Navajo Blue Corn Cookies

Blue corn cookies are a cherished treat that brings the essence of Navajo culture to life. Made from heirloom blue corn, a sacred ingredient in Navajo tradition, the cookies are more than just a snack — they are a connection to the land and the people who have cultivated it for centuries.

Blue corn, known as “naa’doołkǫǫz,” holds deep cultural significance for the Navajo, symbolizing resilience, sustenance, and the blessings of the earth. Each cookie reflects this heritage, offering a rich, nutty flavor that is both nourishing and deeply rooted in Navajo culinary practices. By enjoying these cookies, you are partaking in a tradition that honors the enduring spirit of the Navajo people, celebrating their history, culture, and tradition.

Advancing the Code Talker Legacy

Twenty-nine Navajo Code Talkers forged an unbreakable code that became a decisive force in the Allies’ victory during World War II. Known as Platoon 382, they were the first all-Indian, all-Navajo platoon in the history of the U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Drawing upon the wisdom and resilience passed down through generations, these warriors transformed the Navajo language into an innovative tool of war, critical to the success of U.S. military operations.

Harnessing this spirit of ingenuity, DDC carries on the Code Talker legacy by uniting people, capabilities, and technology to solve complex challenges facing the healthcare community. Our work is a tribute to the Code Talkers’ heritage, reflecting their values of service, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence as we deliver critical healthcare solutions that enhance the well-being and readiness of our nation’s defenders. By merging our cultural heritage with modern technology through our heritage-inspired capabilities model, DDC continues to safeguard our nation’s health and prosperity for future generations.
