Navajo Blue Corn Cookies

Blue corn, or naa’doołkǫǫz, is one of the most sacred and enduring foods of the Navajo people. More than a staple crop, it represents resilience, sustenance, and the blessings of the earth. For generations, blue corn has been planted, harvested, and prepared with care, connecting families to their land and traditions.

Blue corn cookies, made from heirloom blue corn, carry forward the Navajo heritage. Their rich, nutty flavor is a reminder of the strength and wisdom passed down through Navajo culinary practices. To share in blue corn cookies is to honor a tradition that nourishes both body and spirit, celebrating the enduring culture of the Navajo people.

Advancing the Code Talker Legacy

Twenty-nine Navajo Code Talkers forged an unbreakable code that became a decisive force in the Allies’ victory during World War II. Known as Platoon 382, they were the first all-Indian, all-Navajo platoon in the history of the U.S. Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. Drawing upon the wisdom and resilience passed down through generations, these warriors transformed the Navajo language into an innovative tool of war, critical to the success of U.S. military operations.

Harnessing this spirit of ingenuity, DDC carries on the Code Talker legacy by uniting people, capabilities, and technology to solve complex challenges facing the healthcare community. Our work is a tribute to the Code Talkers’ heritage, reflecting their values of service, innovation, and the pursuit of excellence as we deliver critical healthcare solutions that enhance the well-being and readiness of our nation’s defenders. By merging our cultural heritage with modern technology through our heritage-inspired capabilities model, DDC continues to safeguard our nation’s health and prosperity for future generations.
