Division of Economic Development to host 2019 Navajo Nation Economic Summit

ST. MICHAELS, Arizona – The fourth annual Navajo Nation Economic Summit, “Partnerships to Strengthen Opportunities,” will be hosted by the Division of Economic Development at the Twin Arrows Casino Resort April 22-24, 2019. The summit will feature a business plan competition, an ABM business matchmaking event, and breakout sessions focused on financing, contracting, leasing, growing internationally, and more. Support for this year’s summit comes from Diné Development Corporation, which aims to empower the Navajo Nation through its family of companies.

Elaine Young, Department Manager of Small Business Development, planned this year’s summit around four main tracks: Entrepreneurship, Tourism, Commercial Development, and an International track. Navajo business owners, community leaders, and other business professionals, are invited to register.

The summit will also feature the Seven Generation Business Plan Competition, hosted in partnership with the NAU Center for American Indian Economic Development. Individuals and teams with business and investment ideas are encouraged to apply. The competition will be held Tuesday, April 23. Registration for the summit is $200 per person, which includes the 6% Navajo Nation Sales Tax. The ABM business matchmaking event fees are available at the registration website. Artisan booths for the summit are limited and are $200 per booth. Registration fees for the golf tournament, to be held Monday, April 22 at the Continental Country Club in Flagstaff, AZ, range from $125-$3500.
